The real cost of commission-based ordering — and the zero-commission alternative

Aggregators and many QR platforms take 3–30% of every order. This post works out what that does to a restaurant’s year, and how flat-fee, zero-commission ordering changes the maths.

Commission compounds against your best nights

A percentage fee taxes you hardest exactly when you’re busiest. ₹4 lakh of Friday dinners at 5% is ₹20,000, and that’s every week. Flat pricing costs the same on your best night as your worst.

The menu-price spiral

Restaurants raise menu prices to cover commission; guests notice; orders drop. Zero-commission direct ordering lets the menu price be the real price.

Your regulars shouldn’t cost you rent

Aggregators charge you the same commission for a regular who’d have come anyway. Direct QR ordering keeps your loyal traffic on your own rails, and the data stays with you.

What flat-fee looks like

Zervoo charges per venue, per month, with unlimited orders and staff and ₹0 commission. The maths is boring on purpose, because boring is what you can budget.

A year of commission against a year of flat fee

Put a year side by side. This is what the same direct orders cost at a 10% and a 15% per-order commission. A flat fee per venue stays the same whichever column your year lands in, and it does not grow with your best months.

Direct orders a month 10% commission, a year 15% commission, a year
₹50,000 ₹60,000 ₹90,000
₹1,00,000 ₹1,20,000 ₹1,80,000
₹3,00,000 ₹3,60,000 ₹5,40,000

When aggregators still make sense

Discovery. A new kitchen in a new city borrows an aggregator’s audience. The mistake is paying discovery prices on traffic that’s already yours. For the monthly numbers and a step-by-step plan, read how to reduce Zomato and Swiggy commission.

asked first.

Is there really no per-order fee on Zervoo?

None. Payments go through your own provider; we never sit in the money flow.

Can I keep aggregators alongside Zervoo?

Yes. Running both is a sensible way to start: keep the aggregator for discovery and move regulars to direct QR links over time.

How much does zero-commission ordering cost on Zervoo?

A flat monthly fee per venue, quoted up front after a short call, with no per-order fee on any plan. Annual billing saves two months.

Who owns the order data?

You do. Orders, menu and history export as CSV any time, including on the way out. Zervoo does not sell or share guest data.
