What is a QR menu?
A QR menu is a code on the table that opens your menu, usually as a web page or a PDF, on the guest’s phone. It retires the printed cards and lets you change a price in seconds. A waiter still takes the order, writes it down and carries it to the kitchen.
What is QR ordering?
QR ordering starts with the same scan, but the menu does something. Guests add dishes, choose options and place the order themselves. Which should a restaurant choose?
If you mainly want to stop reprinting menu cards and your waiters keep up fine, a QR menu is enough. QR ordering pays for itself when taking orders is what holds the floor up: guests waiting to order, tickets written wrong, a waiter visiting the same table three times in ten minutes. Your staff also get their hands back for the guests, since nobody is carrying slips.
Do guests need an app?

Is a QR menu the same as QR ordering?
They are different things. A QR menu only displays the menu; QR ordering lets guests place the order, request service and pay from the table, with the order going straight to the kitchen.
Does QR ordering replace waiters?
It takes away order-taking and slip-carrying, not the people. Staff spend that time on guests instead, and can still enter orders for anyone who would rather order in person.
